Hi there,

On my MAIN Form I need to filter a Dynamic field based on a selection from a previous field. The 2 fields used are pulling from entries created on a different form (SOURCE Form).

Scenario/Example: The source Form have 2 Fields:

  • 1 = Brand
  • 2 = Model

On the Main form these 2 fields are referenced using Dynamic Field types, 1 field for Brand and the second for Model.

How can I filter the values in the second Model field based on the selection from the first Brand field?   Why can't Dynamic fields be set up with cascading filtering like Lookup fields, and how can this be achieved?

Thanks in advance for some guidance.

Cascading Dynamic fields are easier to setup than Lookup fields. See this: https://formidableforms.com/knowledgebase/dynamic/#kb-set-up-cascading-fields

I'm not sure why that article is saying to create multiple forms. I'm pretty sure I did this with all the lookup fields in a single lookup table.

Thanks Victor!!

I have worked through that piece of documentation before, but I was going about it all wrong by using a mixture of Lookup fields and Dynamic fields and could never get it to work. It really tripped me up...

Anyway, I got my head around it and everything is working beautifully as required.

I found that having a source form for each field makes it simpler. When using a single form I ended up with "duplicate" values for field values higher up in the hierarchy.
