Hi, I'm having difficulty with this one and wondered if it has been solved previously.

In this scenario, a season comprises a number of events. All events in a season take place at the same venue. Stallholders can book a stall for an event. There are multiple types of stall. The venue (and hence the season) has a capacity for a certain combination of stalls.

The list of available stall-types is slow-changing and each entry in the "stall-types" form describes the size and cost for each type for each type of stall.

Early in the year, the manager will add a new season using the form in the attached graphic. The form displays a list of stall-types from the stall-types form. The manager enters a title for the season, then enters a maximum number for each type of stall.

In this way the configuration for the venue, for the particular season is set.

When the manager clicks submit, the new season is added as an entry in the "Seasons" form. The entry contains the title, the Entry ID of each stall-type and the maximum number of each type of stall.

I'd be grateful for some assistance in setting this up. If there is relevant documentation, please could you point me to it?
Many thanks,
Phil.

Before I post an answer, let me see if I understand what you're asking. You have a lookup form that you want to use to display all stall types and pricing in the season form. Then, you want the seasons data entry form formatted like a table in the image example. Is that correct?

Thanks Victor - almost. The "Add new Season" form must display the available stall-types and no pricing. Just provide a space for the manager to enter the max number for each type for the season.

I hope you get the email. I just wrote a long explanation and not awaiting moderator bug pops up! Arghhh...

Thanks. Got the email. I'm going to work through it a couple of times. 🙂

That's basically what I'm proposing to my client translated on the fly into your requirements as I understand them. Mine will be a whole lot more detail. What I sent you is just my initial thoughts in terms of a system design. It's also a lot more than I can give to a lot people, but I when I see impressive talent, I gave it to you because I know you can handle it. I read the code you wrote. You know what you're doing as a developer. Once you harness the nuances of Formidable, you'll be able to build anything. Formidable is like the Minecraft of the development world. It's so well written at its core, that once you know how to use, the possibilities are endless. Let me know how it goes.

I just received the success message "Your answer is awaiting moderator".  Please let me know if anything I am sending is getting through?

Yeah! This forum is acting up. I recommend you post your questions in the Formidable Masterminds group on Facebook. The same volunteers that answer questions here also answer questions there.

Anyway, thanks for the response. I have a better understanding of what you want to do. Since you are using a dynamic field, you are already using a virtual lookup table. Lookup tables in Formidable are virtual concepts. They are not physical tables.

The seasons should be a second lookup table also linked to the stalls through a dynamic field. You would create a cascade lookup using this concept. Follow the same model explained here: https://formidableforms.com/knowledgebase/formidable-locations/

The rest should fall into place.

Thanks so much, Victor. I'll have a go at sharing this question on the Facebook group.

I'll have a look into this. I think it assumes that there is already season data to lookup? For the "Add a season" capability, would this approach still work?

See you on Facebook!
Phil.
