I’ve been talking to Formidable Support and they have found an issue with the forum software that is causing data to be lost when moderation is triggered. The email is sent to you saying your post is in the moderation queue - but when the moderation team checks, nothing is there. They said they will be reporting this to the makers of the forum software and looking for workarounds in the meantime.

Moderation is supposed to be triggered based on the presence of some trigger words. One of the words is only two letters that could be part of many words, so it is suspected that the software does not look for only whole words, but also substrings. Unfortunately I cannot list the trigger words or this post would be moderated, and have made sure none of those strings are in this post.

This has been going on for a long time and it's been reported many times. Steve Wells was actively troubleshooting the issue. Even as a moderator, I can't tell you how many of responses have been lost to the bug. It will show up in the list of responses but the data is 56-years ago. Last year, our posts were 55-years old. They go through a time warp.

If you want answers that aren't going to be lost in the space-time continuum, post in my Formidable Masterminds group on Facebook. There's a lot of good help there and I have some surprises in store for the new year.

Thanks Victor, I'll have to check that out. I want to see if in addition to new posts, comments are also checked for spam. The moderation trigger most likely to cause a problem for anyone is 'vi'. I posted another new post with the word 'victory' in it and it went to the moderation black hole.

Apparently comments are not moderated! Oh, by the way, I got 6 emails with your response, all to the same address. I don't remember that happening before.

Formidable's websites team has removed the spam keywords list so no more posts should go to the moderation black hole.
