ForumsCategory: How-toView not firing redirect to URL on enduser update
Mike Harding asked 2 years ago
Sorry for the newbie question, I've looked around and can't find what is probably a very simple setting.  I have a form that has an action of on-submit redirect to URL. It works fine when data is entered. The same form has a view that permits front-end user update of the information. When submit is pressed on that form it does indeed update the data associated with the entry but does not execute the redirect to URL. How can I make that redirect happen when the View is entered, data is updated, and the user presses update on the view for the form?

On the settings tab of the form, have you clicked the "Form Permissions" subtab and set the value for "On Update" to be the same redirect as you have for the On Submit? Honestly I've always found it confusing that the On Update is located where it is.

Thanks Rob, that was it exactly. I did not see that config option.

Hi Rob, would you have any idea how to do the same with the "display message" option ?
On my form, which display a message with conditions (defined on the "general" tab), when the user click the update button the process is not relaunched, it just display the "update done" message…

This is why I think it's confusing. You set the On Update on the Form Permissions tab and then you have to go back to the General tab to change the text you want for the On Update message (scroll to the bottom). But what I don't understand is why you need that if you've already set the On Update option to "Redirect to URL"?

OMG ! Rob thanks so much 🙂 This is clearly something worthy of a change for the devs. This is wild! I will submit a ticket asap.

You should look at the very latest version of FF. It appears that they addressed that issue by more on the OnSubmit and OnUpdate to the Form Actions.
