Front end editing uses a direct write to the database to update a field. It bypasses a Forms actions, so if you need to send an email or or trigger any other action that the form normally handles, you have to manually account for the difference in form behavior vs. direct write to the database behavior. You have to use different hooks.
Hi Victor,
Yes I spent hours trying to implement the edit in place mentioned on that page, on a repeater/child view and it does not seem to work. Works great on a view that is not a child. The only thing that seems to work with the child view is the traditional front end editing that redirects you to the page in which the form sits on. There is also no mention on how to implement edit in place with a repeater/child. The only mention of front end editing is the traditional manner I just mentioned.
You never mentioned you were working with a repeater. I can't remember anyone asking about front end editing a repeater. I don't have an answer for you. I hope someone can chime in.
I raised this with Formidable Support after spending lots of time on it.
The facility is NOT available to update repeaters at the front end but I have been promised by Toyin it has been added onto a to-do list since other customers could find it helpful.
That was a couple of months ago now.
Michael.
Who is Toyin? This is the second time I've seen that name popup, but have never seen a post from anyone by that name here.
