What is the easyest way to save or export a simple (but lentghty) form to a pdf, so that customers can print it out?

Use the formidable forms PDF addon.  It’s basic, but it works.

But, but for this addon I need to upgrade from BASIC plan to BUSINESS plan, which is a bit of overkill in my view.

You can create a view, display it in a browser and let the browser save it as a pdf. Every modern browser can save as pdf. We use this for all kinds of output including charts and graphs. It just take a small JavaScript snippet. I’m mobile right now and can’t share a snippet at the moment.
