How can I automatically save an entry?

I'm wanting to automatically and periodically save an entry when a specific type of user (editor) is editing it from the front end. This is a solution that I'd like it to be similar to what gmail does. I don't want this to happen when the editor or any other type of user is submitting the entry, only when editing it. Has anyone got any experience with this? Thank you!

You would need to use the submit function to do this, and it would need to be done jquery, more thank likely. The biggest hurdle will be the experience.  I’m not sure you will get what you are anticipating.  

If you’re not comfortable with writing jquery you could look at hiring a developer.
